Abdo Khoury graduated from the IE Global MBA on July’15. In August 2015, he joined the Thomson Reuters Management Associates Program based in London, making him the 1st IE graduate to be admitted for this program. The Management Associates Program is a highly competitive, fast-paced, 24-month program for top-tier MBA graduates that combines challenging business unit assignments with personalized, self-directed development opportunities. Since August 2015, Abdo has completed assignments in the public sector, market development in emerging economies and strategic planning and execution for Middle East and North Africa. He is currently on his 3rd assignment leading the European expansion Go-To-Market Strategy and execution for Thomson Reuters’ Tax & Accounting business.
Before joining the Management associate program, he worked as a Business Development manager at Thomson Reuters MENA based in Dubai, UAE. He has certainly done a functional shift to a more strategy and market development path. Thanks to his location change, he now has a broader geographic exposure be it on all emerging markets as well as on Europe.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
While on my MBA, I had started to look for internal channels to accelerate my career with Thomson Reuters hence looking to have an immediate return on my investment in my IE MBA directly after graduation – Thomson Reuters’ Talent Management was able to guide me to the internal leadership development programs for high potential future leaders.
How did the Career Management Center (CMC) and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
The Career Advising services offered by the CMC during my MBA were very helpful to brainstorm and provide guidance on what could my next steps be to reach my professional goals.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc.?
I had a round of interviews with the Regional Talent Lead, Program Management and Senior Business leaders.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to Thomson Reuters?
Thomson Reuters is a great company with mind blowing value propositions that will need some time for any candidate to understand and read through before applying. Investigating how the company operates across all difference business units with the various professional audiences can show where a candidate can add value. B2B experience is very well respected so make sure you highlight it in your application.
