How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I found out about this opportunity while looking at the Rocket Internet website.
How did the Career Management Center and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
I came to IE with the goal of having a career change and shifting to the internet & technology industry. The overall IE experience has helped me in this transition. During the startup lab, which was personally the best term of the year, I learnt a lot about entrepreneurship, launching a company and focusing on metrics that are vital for a startup. Additionally, having worked on my own startup during the program, I took advantage of the advice on offer from a great set of mentors and professors, which has furthered my knowledge and definitely prepared me for taking over this new challenge. The Career Management Center was useful in the initial preparation phase, especially in building a strong CV.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
The overall process took almost 2 months, which is rather long for a startup. A couple of weeks after the application I was contacted by the HR team in Munich and then had a first interview with the HR manager. After that I had 2 additional phone interviews, including one with the founder and then a final face-to-face interview with the Managing director in Madrid. All interviews were designed to identify cultural fit, analytical capabilities and people management skills.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to Cuponation?
Cuponation, and startups that are backed by Rocket Internet, are well known for their execution. In order to execute well you need to have people with strong commitment, who are data driven and are capable of getting things done. It is important that you have and can show those skills throughout the entire interview process.
When applying for a startup I also recommend looking for material and interviews about the founders themselves. These are usually very good sources of information to understand the business model, the company culture and vision.
