Pablo Fuster, IE MIF July 2015 graduate, started working at Clearwater International last April as an M&A Analyst upon completing a brief internship at AFS Finance, a Family Office based in Madrid. Clearwater International is an international M&A boutique specialized in cross-border mid-market transactions, with presence in 8 countries across Europe and partnerships in Asia and US.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I heard about the position and applied thought an offer published at IE Career Portal.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
My experience at IE was key for succeeding in my job search, not just because of the deep knowledge I acquired in finance and the great reputation of the program itself, but also thanks to the intense labor of the CMC, who did a phenomenal job at pairing students with top notch opportunities, as well as providing us the tools to succeed in during the interview process.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc.?
The requirement process consisted of 2 interviews, one with a Director with more technical questions about Corporate Finance and the second one with the Partner of the firm. This second interview was more personal and aimed to find out whether I was a suitable candidate for the position, my ambitions, interest and commitment.
Would you want to share any tips or advice with students?
My advice for MIF students would be to make as many interviews as possible, even if you are not really considering taking the position if accepted, because you always learn something in every interview (mistakes you make, questions they commonly ask, gaining experience in general) and will definitely help you to become more confident and get a better result when the opportunity you are looking for finally arrives.
Also, follow the tips from CMC and come up with a very visual (clean, organized and to the point) CV. That’s the first (and maybe the last) impression the will have of you.
