Francisco González, International MBA 2015 Alumni, tells how he managed to enter this leading company.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
Every year Minsait organizes a competition for MBA students from the best business schools in Spain who are interested in strategy consulting.
I gathered two MBA friends with whom I really wanted to work to join the competition. My team consisted of Joaquín Calvo, a lawyer, and Diego Sio, a mining engineer; two very different profiles that complemented mine perfectly.
The experience was extraordinary. Not only because of the opportunity to work with my team, but also the experiences we had during the intense competition.
In the end the hard work paid off. The Minsait recruiters liked my profile and I was offered the opportunity to begin the recruiting process with them.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
The CMC supported me throughout the process. They used their experience to explain how the process would work and how I should prepare for it. I was also put in touch with several IE alumni who had gone through the same process.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
Because recruiters had seen me on numerous occasions during the consulting contest they gave me a pass for the first part of the process, which consists in a HR interview.
The second part consists two interviews with a consultant and manager in which you use estimation cases, business cases, and mini cases to demonstrate your ability to analyze and solve problems.
In the final stage you have to showcase your ability to persuade by trying to convince a director and a partner of the added value you can bring to the company.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
Many things are said regarding the interview process. I would like to emphasize three:
Prepare for the interview: ask what the interview will consist of and study one of the many consultancy recruitment guides which are available.
Take care of your image: the first impression is everything and can determine if you pass or fail.
Relax: you have to give the best of yourself, if you’re nervous you won’t be able to impress someone, and that is what it is all about.
