How did you find out about this job opportunity?
The Microsoft MACH program opportunity was announced over career portal as well as sent via email from CMC to potential candidates who were screened via the CV books of IE.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
The CMC staff helped in reviewing my application docket, ensuring that I managed to cover all bases that were a part of the MACH requirements. Further additional CMC sessions viz-a-viz Daniel Perot , Drop In’s with Lorena, Career Fitness and inputs from peer students helped me prepare for the recruitment process. Utilizing CMC resources such as Vault and MBA-Exchange, help in gaining a good understanding of the company.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
The MACH recruitment happens on a Global scale and hence its imperative for any prospective candidate to clear the first hurdle which is via a telephonic interview with the Global Recruitment Coordinator. A Technology background helps, but is not essential. Post this, depending on your Geographical preferences and MSFT’s requirements, they shall short-list you for a region. There are generally 5-6 regional round interviews that are telephonic and are a mixed bag of scenario based and behavioral questions. Some regions require candidates to present themselves at an Assessment Center, wherein Group Activity and Group Discussions can be expected.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
Know your CV very well and be prepared to answer the “WHY Microsoft” question. Research on Microsoft is imperative and a knowledge of various MS products from Office to X-Box shall come in handy, especially in the scenario based questions. Also be prepared for Behavioral questions that go on the lines of “Tell me a time when …”. Finally and most importantly, trust your strengths and acumen, be Gucci and Go Beyond.
