Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Master in Management 2015 Alumni, shares his secrets on entering at Heineken.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I found out thanks to the CMC, which sent us an email to sign up for an after work event with Heineken. There, the company explained what they were looking for within the commercial role. After the event, we also had the opportunity to talk with the HHRR managers, who announced that they would give one green card to the final round of the process of the commercial program.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
CMC helped me not only by enhancing my CV (a lot), but also by giving me a better approach when searching and applying for jobs. In addition, I’d say that the relationships that the CMC keeps with the human resources managers of many companies are valuable assets for the alumni. Once I knew that I was selected for the final interview, I prepared the potential questions that may come up during the interview with my CMC advisor Lorena Martinez and with Natalia Milani.
I believe that the daily intensity of the master program, with presentations, assignments, tests etc. has been key in order to be ready for the hard process that any job application requires.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
In the first stage, they asked us some basic questions checking our availability to work, like: if we had driving license, if we were willing to move to another city, English level etc. Then, one of the HHRR managers asked me to sell to him in 1 minute a lighter with the shape of a fish. After these steps, I had a first interview with a Sales Manager, and a second and final interview with the Trade Marketing Manager.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
Invest TIME doing some research about the current situation of the company, the industry and the competitors. Secondly, selling is not about telling the unique features of a product/service, but the benefits that these features will bring to the customer. Lastly, show your commercial skills with examples and be confident during the recruitment process.
