Amir Sultan, Alumni of the MIM, class of 2014, is currently working at Telefónica.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I started looking for opportunities through the Career Portal a couple months in advance before graduating from the MIM Program. Even though this was not the only channel I used, I found it very useful to find promising opportunities that were updated every week. And one good day, I was hired by Telefónica through Career Portal.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
The CMC was always at my disposition in case I had any doubts or any problems. Once I was offered the job, the staff was very helpful guiding and assisting me throughout the hiring process, particularly, its legal procedure. Fast, organized, intense and efficient, the IE Experience in all its essence!
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
Once filtered by CMC, I was contacted by Telefónica’s HR department with the info particular to the vacancy, and an invitation to visit Telefónica’s main offices for an interview. With the objective of on getting to know each candidate, they evaluated my personality, career path, and aspirations as a Top Business School Graduate.
During the following stage, I held a personal interview with the responsible of the area. During this interview, demonstrating a passionate, techy, self-driven and ambitious profile was the clue, which led me to come with the official offer.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
Being aware of our capabilities and personality is essential to chase for promising opportunities both in big and small companies. Particularly in Telefónica, you should approach the selection process as if you were the owner of the company, with all that implies!
Researching on the area you might get to work in, potential co-workers and potential competitors in the industry is a clear advantage you should count with during advanced selection stages.
Plus, being aware of the latest tech trends and showcasing a competitive and diverse profile is always a plus at the time of participating in selection processes successfully.
