“My tip for current students willing to change industries is that an internship is a tool that makes the process easier but it needs to be taken seriously. It might be a long and tough process, but in the end it pays back“. Says Marisol Laos, IMBA alumna of the class of 2014 and current part of the Global MBA Program at AB Inbev. Read her story here:
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I received an email from the CMC about AB Inbev’s Global MBA Summer Internship Program, so I decided to apply to AB Inbev – LAS (Latin America South).
One of the reasons I decided to do an MBA was that I wanted a change in my career path; I knew that one of the best ways to do that was by looking for a summer internship in a company and an industry of my interest, thus the AB Inbev opportunity seemed to be a great fit for what I was looking for.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
I maintained a close communication with my career advisor who supported me through the whole process.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc.?
All the interviews were held through Skype since the region’s HQ are located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was assigned to one of the HR recruiters, a very friendly an accessible person, who guided all the way through the recruiting process and during the internship program.
I went through four interviews; two of them with human resources, the first one to get to know me better and the second one was the resolution of an online business case. The last two interviews were with the VP and the President of the region.
The summer internship was a tree-month experience in which I was constantly challenged; they assigned me a project that represented a real problem in the day-to-day operations of the company.
This project was presented to the President of the region, at the end of the program, and according to my performance AB Inbev decided to offer me a full-time position, as well as the opportunity of joining their Global MBA Program after graduation.
This experience also gave me the opportunity to network with other MBAs having the same experience in other regions, such as Western Europe, Asia Pacific, North America, Mexico and Northern Latin America.
