Jacobo Ruiz De Villa is International MBA alumnus, class of 2014. Currently Senior Consultant, AXIS Corporate, tells us more about his experience at IE.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I first heard about Axis Corporate during the IE Career Fair. I had the opportunity to talk to them and learn more about their activity. Sometime later, after my graduation, I saw a job offer at the CMC website and I applied.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
I just can’t express with words all the help I got from the CMC while trying to find a job. I spoke with them several times and all the team was extremely helpful (thank you very much to everyone!). Some of the things they did for me: they explained different careers path and gave me information about how the work is in different industries and very good insights about the different career options, they shared examples of job interviews, they gave me information about the job offers published in the Career Portal, they gave me tips for preparing for the interviews and tips to prepare the career fair, they informed me about career events organized at IE, and once I got the offer I talked with one of the advisors and she offered me guidance for my decision.
Also very important for me, they were also of great help supporting me during the days when I was more pessimistic about finding a job and they helped me to get back on track and focus on the things I should do, instead of being worried.
To sum up, they guided me from the beginning to the end in my process of job hunting and they were my mentors, advisors and friends.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
The recruiting process consisted of three rounds of interviews. The first interview was with HR and they asked me general questions about my background, experience, interests, etc. We then I had to develop a business case and some behavioral questions about leadership, working in teams, etc. The second interview was more or less similar, but this time it was with a manager. And finally, the third and final round was with a partner, and I think he was especially interested in how I would fit in the culture of the company.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to Axis Corporate?
The recruiting process in Axis Corporate is not very different from the rest of consulting companies. My advice is to prepare the business cases, have some good stories for the behavioral part and be confident and relaxed during the interview.
