Juan Delgado, IE Master in Management 2015 graduate, joined Odgers Berndtson Management Consultants (OBMC) after deciding that Consultancy was the perfect professional match for this profile. He has shared with us some insights into his job search and recruitment process.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
I was enrolled on an Internship on BBVA Bank, but the duration was only for 6 months, so I started applying for jobs even when it hadn’t finished. I am MIM and an engineer, so I think the job that fits better with my profile is consultancy, so I applied to every job consultancy opportunity that appeared on the Career Portal. Odgers Berndtson Management Consultants (OBMC) used to post job opportunities very often so I applied for an Analyst position, and that morning they called me to arrange an interview.
How did Talent and Careers and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
Maybe just because I was already working when the recruiting process started, I did not ask for help, but during the Master, my Counselor Juan Sanz, helped me a lot to decide which career path fitted the best with my profile.
How was the recruitment process at OBMC?
The recruiting process was divided into 4 interviews. Each interview had two different parts. The first part were questions about myself, and my professional background. The second part was a brainteaser problem and quick numerical operations.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
OBMC is a consultancy company, in a continues and huge expansion process, so I think that is a great opportunity to grow and learn with the projects every day. I advise all those who are interested to apply, to prepare the interview with time, during the whole process you will have to solve problems that will evaluate your ability to make numerical calculations and solving problems.
The best advice I can give to you is that you have to be straight to the point, natural and active during the interview. The brainteasers are really hard, but if you have a logical and mathematical mind, you will solve them in the correct way. Just remember, that these kind of problems never have a perfect answer, and the most important thing is to show to the interviewer the logical steps to YOUR answer.
