Long Zhou, International MBA November 2014 student, tell us his experience with this firm.
How did you find out about this job opportunity?
Initially, I did my own research on potential internships I wanted to apply to. Santander happened to be one of them. I reached out to some of my friends currently working at Santander and they agreed to help me with the application process. A week after I submitted my application, the CMC sent out an email in regards to the internship opportunity at Santander so I decided to contact them for additional help.
How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?
Ana was in contact with the HR recruiter at Santander and was available with any information or updated that I needed.
How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
The first stage was a pre-screening phone interview. The second stage was 30-45 minutes phone interview going over ideal job role and markets, your resume, and career aspirations. The third round was a face-to-face interview with my direct manager and a managing director. The interview lasted about an hour and they asked some technical questions along with a basic case study. The interview process was pretty straightforward with no surprises. It was longer than I expected (5 weeks) but pretty normal for Spain.
Would you want to share any tips, advice with current student interested in applying to this company?
Make sure you know what department and markets you want to participate in. Be yourself during the second and third interview. Be sure to disclose what you want out of the internship.
