• How did you find out about this job opportunity?
Actually the job opportunity found me: Schlumberger Business Consulting selected my profile from the CV database of IE and they invited me to have the first interview.
• How did the CMC and your IE experience helped you during the recruiting process?
The CMC puts a lot of effort to get you ready when you are going to look for the opportunities the market has to offer. I cannot remember the times the CMC kept on telling me how important is to start since the very beginning to prepare a good CV. Probably I would have waited until the last term of the MBA to prepare it and I would not have been selected by SBC.
I also took advantage of the free mock interview sessions the CMC organized in order to have a first taste of behavioral interview questions.
I have to say that there are no silver bullets when it comes to find a new job. I was lucky that I was selected by SBC but, putting luck aside, I was ready when my chance arrived.
• How was the recruiting process: stages, tests, interviews, etc?
After the first round of interviews on the IE campus they invited me to have a full day of interviews in the office I chose. Each interview is a typical consulting interview where usually the first half is spent over some questions about your CV and the second half you try to crack a business case. Even if it’s exhausting to keep focus and stamina for 6 interviews in a row, the upside is that SBC gives you an answer pretty quickly and you don’t have to go through an endless period of many rounds and long waits. They replied after few weeks and they offered me a full-time position as a consultant.
• Could share any tips with future IMBA students interested in applying to Schlumberger Business Consulting?
If you like to work in the energy sector and you like to travel then Schlumberger
Business Consulting is the right choice. SBC is an energy company focused on delivering general management consulting in Oil and Gas and with strong bias to exploration and production. Is not necessary to have a previous work experience in Oil&Gas but you really need to demonstrate a strong interest in the energy field.
I wish you all the best of luck if you decide to apply for SBC!
